To TV or not to TV....

I have wanted to post about this topic a while back. But, Lindsey over at passionate homemaker beat me to it. Plus, she wrote it so eloquently that I'll just send you to her blog. I love the thought provoking questions and why her family chose NOT to TV.

Some of you may know that we have only ONE TV. I know it sounds crazy. I would love to just get rid of it! We also don't watch television during the week. I don't even watch it. Karl will watch it after the kids and I have gone to bed. That is OK with me because this way we eat together and play together as a family!

The kids do not complain nor do they miss watch television during the week. I have found that they become creative in their play. They also play WITH each other. I do not have to entertain them every minute. We do play board games during the day as a break from school. I love spending, playing with my kids.

Family time is so important to us right now because we are instilling this time into our young children. Hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, camping on the weekends; all the outdoor stuff we do that the television would of stolen from us. Even raspberry picking!! NO more couch potatoes.

Lindsey shared this verse on her site:
1 John 2:15-16 “Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.”

This really goes back to 'simplifying' our life. I am not judging you if you have a television in every room. This is what we believe works for our family. Each family is different and will train their own children differently. Our philosophy is 'simple'; to live simply and to enjoy life to its fullest. To live by the 'word' and to be a 'light' to those around us. We are not perfect, we are human, we make mistakes. By the grace of our Father we are able learn by our mistakes and to be forgiven.

I love your blog! I just started my own, but I am just in remedial blog when mine doesn't look so homely and lame I will share. :)
Where do your kids take Tae Kwon Do?

For privacy issues I cannot give exact location. There are so many places for Taekwondo that I found one that is a Christian and understand homeschooling families.

I can't wait to see your blog!!
